40 children victims of cancer in Armenia yearly

Eighty to 100 children aged up to 14 develop cancer in Armenia and thirty to forty of them die annually Professor Gagik Bazikyan, Deputy Director of the Armenian Center of Oncology, told journalists on the occasion of the International Childhood Cancer Day, February 15.

He reported that 7,500 new cancer cases are registered in Armenia yearly. Prof. Bazikyan pointed out that doctors manage to control cancer development in 50% of cases. However, the other half of patients turn to doctors too late.

"The disease can be treated in 90% if patients turn to doctors in time," Bazikyan said.

Armenian adoptions to the USA have an average wait time of 425 days according to this report.
The amound of American children adopted overseas is 43, the Netherlands continues to be the country taking in the most American Children.

Armenian Adoption Adventure- Most popular Baby Names in Armenia 2010

The top baby names in Armenia in 2010 were Narek and Mane.

Out of the 23,800 baby boys boys born in in Armenia in 2010, 1,139 were named Narek. Also popular for boys were the names David, Gor, Eric and Arman.

Out of the 20,900 baby girls born in 2010, 923 were named Mane. Also popular for girls were Milena, Ani, Anahit, Elen, Nare.
